I just had the same experience, first a woman sends me a message...tells me that her brother is interested in an item I am selling, she tells me to email him....I email him...he responds promptly...says he's okay with the price...and claims he'll pay an extra $70.00 for me to remove the item. He then stated a certified check will be in the mail 2 days later.

He gave me a tracking number...he said text him at this provided phone number when I cash it and it clears and his shipper will pick it up...no check ever came. When I went back to my alerts on Offerup I noticed that his "sister' deleted her message somehow!

Aside from that I get several alerts a day with interested parties that never show or respond back. I have had success with purchasing items on the other hand...perhaps because I go protected and never alone.

Reason of review: Order processing issue.

OfferUp Pros: Very good to sell stuff, Amount of potential customers.

OfferUp Cons: Buyers do not show up, Fake buyers not looking for buying used.

Location: Detroit, Michigan

I've had the exact same thing happen to me except for two different girls say their dad is interested. They wanted my full name and address... I blocked them both!

Hey I got the same thing happened to me three times. The first time I sent me info for the check and the check.

The same day I got three more of the same request for different items but I never sent me info. What do they do with your info?

What's the scam? What can they do with just your name and address???

With your name and address there is actually a site on the internet that you can get a persons social security number all you need is their name and address you had better check your credit reports.
