OfferUp - A place for stolen goods
I know of one person who goes to retail stores, shoplifts, then sells the stuff on offerupnow. It's a regular thing with her, and I'm sure it's a regular thing with most of the dealers on that site.
It seems easier to track someone on a different site; Offerupnow makes it easy to hide your tracks. I would not buy anything from anyone on that site; it's too dangerous. If you get caught buying or owning something stolen, it's on you to defend yourself, not the way you want to spend the evening.
Additionally, you get a lot of "new, still in box, never used", to find the stuff was stolen from any person who did not watch his wallet, her purse, the list goes on.
Buy a phone from that site, try to get service for it, get a visit from the police. Sounds like a fun time for all.

I buy stolen bike on offer up and next day was arrested with police have chat with that guy and his name Savion Need advice what I can do? Thx
I found items that I have ordered online (tracking posted as "delivered" but never received) because they were stolen from the house and resold on offer up.
Its quite true, especially from a law enforcement perspective. Alot of the items on these sell sites are stolen - say more then 60%
Excuse me? I sell on OfferUp all the time and it's not stolen merchandise.
I have sold some new items that were either gifts or things I bought but never used. It's unfair to make such a blanket statement.
They said a lot of the stuff is stolen, not ALL of it. I just found my bike on this website that was stolen back in September of last year. The seller has changed the handle bars and stem on the bike and left everything else the way it was, it is clearly my bike and I'm getting the local PD involved for a "sting" purchase.
$1 says your local PD laughs at you. Cops are too busy to carry out impromtu "sting" opperations for a bike that is probably stolen but may not be because its not exactly like the one in question.
Unless you are staring at the serial number on the bike and it matches the one from your records - its nothing more than suspected theft.
Ive had bikes stolen all of my life. Its devastating. Its the worst.
I only ever got 1 of them back - and even then it was just the stripped frame - and it was because the thief bragged about it to friends of mine and I knew a cop that was actually a decent person.
Anyway, chalk it up to the fact you got caught slipping and take measures to ensure there isnt a repeat. Your local PD has better things to *** away our tax dollars on - like surplus armored military vehicles and Krispy Cremes.
